Kathy, Tim, Dawg, Glenn, JJJ: Getting philosophical here for a moment.

I am a person (guy) who lives in the here and now. Does the Tao for Daytrading really help a person find a center? I am trying to decide about my future and what part the market will play in it. Will it be my future or an amusing aside as it is now?

A friend of mine told me that my approach to trading is a "money making hobby." That does not sound very serious does it? I am trying to decide if a person can:

a) support a family,
b) send kids to school
c) enjoy a prosperous future

all attributable to the market. I am inclined to believe I can. But I have not done it yet. I have been "trading" almost one year in one of the most historic bull markets ever. And yet I have only turned 9K into 22K. This makes me wonder if I am capable of making enough to achieve my goals. I guess I am just rambling and maybe asking myself these questions but, how are you traders doing? Can you achieve the three simple goals I listed. This stuff interests me like you can't believe but, I always doubt there is a life in doing it.

Deep enough? Anyone want to venture an answer? I could use one. I am a good engineer, and that makes me expect to be a great trader. So my goals are high. This thread has pointed me toward Mecca. Now who is driving? Me! I hope.
