To LindyBill: Beginning to think that Globalstar may be a potential gorilla, not just a king in satellite voice now, data later. G* uses "satellite" CDMA for communication between base stations and satellites - unique - no other satellite system can use. In addition, G* handles both CDMA and GSM handsets (combined with "satellite" CDMA). This could be particularly powerful in China which will without question be the world's number one wireless market. In China it is not so much a matter of "filling in the holes" as major use as a primary system - especially rural telephony. Note that those who think Chinese too poor to use cell phones need to think twice.

Dragonfly,

You are right G*'s Sat. CDMA and GSM mode phones will be available when G* is ready for commercial launch. ERICY and that Italian company will be primarily supplying these phones until Q's landline CDMA networks available in China (It will be a while.) That is why it is important to have ERICY's G* phone available ASAP when the system is ready to go.

China Telcomm. + ERICY's G* and GSM dual mode phone will be a perfect match in China. G* phone will be truly an extension of landline services (celluar, fixed wireless phone, or wire line phone). China Telcomm, for sure, will subside G* phone and phone rate to its customers. That is a huge plus. G* will benefit so much by helping China Telcomm and China government to have a full control (good or bad?) of its land no matter where people go without spending much of its own capital. Though the average Chinese are poor and can not afford such phones, China Telcomm will help make sure G* markets are truly being served.

Stay tuned to see if Mr. Schwartz is right or not. Just be patient.

Best to all,

Brian H.
