OT---OT--- OT---- OT---- OT-------------
We went in there with printed out ORDINANCES from the city and read them, I swear it was like talking to a brick wall!
During break, the city engineer was all chummy with the developer, joking, and the like.
Here was a large parcel of land, half of it was a horse farm, and I had made the owner of it to be the villian, but after the council voted yes to rezone, I talked to her, and found that when they built the condos next to us, it created tremendous FLOODING problems on her farm, I mean her horses were knee deep in water in their most of their pasture. She went to the city, they told her there was nothing they could do, went to the land owner next to hers(who eventually went in with the developer of the new condos) and he said "You don't like it MOVE!"...so last night, they sat through the meeting, wringing their hands, because if the council didn't vote YES, the developer wouldn't buy their land.
And many property owners to the east voiced their opinion that because of the existing condos, ever since they had flooded basements!!! They were burning up sump pumps to no end...and now NEW condos were going in and will they make things worse? Yes!!! The city shrugs and says "Oh well, buyer beware"
The developer says he won't clear the trees on the four 2 acre lots behind us, but a minute later he uses the words "grade the land to help alleviate flooding"...my husband jumps up and says "I have NEVER heard of GRADING with TREES there, he changed the subject. And we called him on the density, and he said it was within the cities regulation...again, my husband called him a liar and did the math for him. And they are butt up within 10ft of an enviromental corridor, don't say they WON'T damage some trees as they put the condos in!!!
Well, they voted yes after we made another plea to deaf ears.
We left and as the meeting was still going, as I walked by them, I gave the hand motion rubbing my thumb and fingers together, denoting "payoff".
I am sorry, but I had to vent!!!! It was a difficult evening for us!!!!
