Hawaiian Airlines Appoints New Head of Operations
HONOLULU--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 14, 1999--Hawaiian Airlines Inc. (ASE and PCX:
HA) today announced that veteran airline executive Michael R. Schwab, 53, has been
appointed on an interim basis to oversee the company's flight and service operations.
Schwab will report directly to company President and Chief Executive Officer Paul J. Casey. Schwab has overall management
responsibility for the daily operation and administrative activities of the company's Flight Operations; In- Flight, Catering and
Product Development; Maintenance and Engineering; Airport Services and System Operations Control departments. Those
departments had reported directly to Casey, but recent expansion at Hawaiian has prompted a search for additional senior
management expertise.

operational side. Michael is a proven leader in our industry and brings exceptional airline operations expertise to Hawaiian
Airlines,'' Casey said.
Schwab's airline career spans 22 years, including eight years in senior management positions at US Airways with responsibility for
all aspects of the airline's flight operations, maintenance, flight dispatch and corporate-wide purchasing activities, and 14 years with
United Airlines.
Founded in Honolulu 69 years ago, Hawaiian Airlines is Hawaii's longest-serving and largest airline, and the nation's 12th largest
carrier. Hawaiian's fleet of 15 McDonnell Douglas DC-9 aircraft provides award-winning service on 140 jet flights daily among
