robt. Hedge funds that short companies deversify. They short more than one. Another short favorite since last June is USRX. My point is, if one position goes significantly against you, you need to cover more than just that bad position. They had to halt USRX in after hours. Too many shorts on COMS and USRX.

NEW YORK, Feb 26 (Reuter) - U.S. Robotics (NASDAQ:USRX) shares
were up more than 10 points, to 71-1/2, and 3Com Corp was up 2
points to 41 in late trading on Wednesday before Nasdaq halted
both stocks after news of their proposed merger broke.
U.S. Robotics had closed at 61 on Nasdaq, down 1/2 of a
point, during regular trading. Its 52-week high was 105-1/2.
3Com had closed at 39 on Nasdaq, down 1/8 during regular
trading. Its 52-week high was 81-3/8.
After the market closed, 3Com announced it would buy modem
giant U.S. Robotics in a $6.6 billion deal.
