Actually those of us on the net in a given forum could probably provide a reasonable sampling of company behavior by doing a bit of a survey regarding "PC buying expectations as estimated by astute investor SI contributors working in various companies".

Why we are not constantly sampled for opinion surveys is a mystery to me! Apparently folks prefer to garner opinons from pundits and telephone surveyers principally.
