There seem to be two interpretations of MMX. MMX is a set of
new nstructions in the Pentium and the Pentium Pro that directly
manipulate the images on the screen. They are apparently going to
make graphics quicker and better. I have been reading two inter-
pretations and both may be true. One is that you can have a very
capable low end multimedia computer with little or no need for
a graphics accelerator. If true, knocks down the cost of
low end PCs and boost sales. The other interpretation is that
it allows the Pentium, in conjuction with a graphics accelerator
to create better, faster graphics which should also expand sales.
Since I have seen both interpretations written up, I suspect that
both are true. It is also good that other Pentium chip cloners
have to adopt MMX since the software for taking advantage of MMX
will see a wider market, thereby again increasing the market for
PC sales. If anyone has a more definitive answer it would be
most appreciated.

Good investing to all
