Java flopped because it is slow. Nobody does slow anymore. Native C or machine language (gasp!) would work fine. XML script would be sufficiently fast if the script was compiled for most tasks. You could have an xml compiler. Why not.

Java lacks pointers so it is not a do all language I would like to write the Taj Mahal in. It is purely an extensible high security language so Its forte in the real networking world might he its power in CAD systems or distributer grafiks envi's.
