Adam,
Haynes also countered well with the argument that cell phone are generally high quality products, while most free PCs are left-overs full of obsolete gray market parts.
...Obsolete-gray market, there is a another word that always goes with these words...unreliable. Failure data from a data base of thousands of PCs has shown us that, by far, the least reliable parts are obsolete gray market parts. Whenever these sneak into PCs (aren't supposed to) that are used as consoles for our big servers, they end up with very high failure rates compared with new, first time parts. You get what you pay for.
Niles is obviously trying to parlay his Dell call and Intel call to make a name for himself. I think he's going after the wrong two companies, and will end up paying dearly, probably with his job.
While I'm here, thanks Adam, Ten, Process Boy and anyone I forgot or don't know that works for Intel and posts here, for a great quarter.
