NEON Provides Enterprise Backbone for IBM's E-Business Solution; NEON's Rules and Formatter Engines Embedded Into IBM Commerce Integrator
DENVER, April 14 /PRNewswire/ -- New Era of Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: NEON - news) announced today its Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) technology is a key component in IBM Commerce Integrator.
IBM Commerce Integrator, announced today, brings the power of reliable, industrial-strength integration technology to growing E-Businesses for IBM Net.commerce (http://www.software.ibm.com/commerce/net.commerce). NEON's Rules and Formatter engines, components of MQSeries Integrator, are embedded in the product to integrate disparate back-end applications.
''Companies that want to enter the E-Business market must choose a strategic application integration platform,'' said Harry Tse, vice president, research at The Yankee Group, a Boston-based IT research and consulting firm. ''This will enable E-commerce applications, back office and legacy systems to interoperate with each other, allowing for E-Commerce enhancements as the company moves forward.''
NEON Enables E-Business for Any Business
Established companies that want to implement an E-Business program don't have to replace their existing systems. ''Many companies are under the false impression that E-Business means installing all new systems on the back and front end, and that their existing IT infrastructure will need to be replaced. This is not true. IBM Commerce Integrator is technology that enables companies to build on their present technology investment, and extend it to the Web,'' said Karl Salnoske, general manager of e-commerce, IBM.
Prior to implementing NEON's software, Primark, Inc. (www.primark.com), a global information services company, offered paper and CD-based financial information to its subscribers. Using the EAI software to integrate its various sources of information, Primark now provides a real-time, electronic source of global information to its 40,000-subscriber Internet-based financial information service Global Access.
''NEON's software served as the means to integrate our heterogeneous back end systems, enabling us to transform our service into an online offering,'' said Dave Ellison, chief information and technology officer for Primark. ''This revolutionary change in our business processes has boosted revenue, decreased our production costs, and provided the foundation for the upcoming release of our integrated content offering, Open Primark''.
Expands NEON's Distribution Partnership With IBM
The agreement between NEON and IBM's E-Commerce unit expands NEON's partnership with IBM. IBM sales representatives can now sell IBM Commerce Integrator and MQSeries Integrator, both of which generate royalties to NEON. NEON now has an additional development and distribution partnership with the separate E-Commerce business unit of IBM. NEON will continue to build the relationship it has with the Application Integration Middleware Software Group. IBM Commerce Integrator customers desiring full enterprise application integration will be able to upgrade to MQSeries Integrator.
NEON EAI Software Essential Element of E-Business
E-business is a multi-billion dollar industry and is one of the fastest growing segments in information technology. Back end system integration is critical to implementing e-business solutions. IBM's selection of NEON's Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) software as the foundation for IBM Commerce Integrator further validates NEON as the standard. IBM Commerce Integrator is the option for IBM Net.commerce, already installed at L.L. Bean, MicroAge, Recreation Equipment Inc. (REI), 1-800-Batteries and many other companies.
An end-to-end E-Commerce system today almost always consists of several systems that need to work together. In addition, many E-Business initiatives involve connecting legacy and ERP systems to the Web. Simple application program interfaces (APIs) are not a scalable and cost effective means to integrate these disparate systems. NEON's EAI software eliminates the need to write multiple interfaces among multiple applications and the Web.
''Often the logic and data that drives E-Commerce application resides in legacy and ERP software,'' said Rick Adam, CEO for NEON. ''Commerce Integrator enables companies to leverage their IT assets to conduct Web-based commerce, regardless of what platforms their order entry, fulfillment, customer service, accounting, inventory, and shipping systems may run on.''
Comprehensive NEON E-Business Initiative
Today's announcement is the newest element in NEON's comprehensive E- Business initiative. Earlier this year, NEON introduced NEON Physician Access (http://www.neonsoft.com/press/physician.html), a product that combines the power of the Internet with EAI technology to give doctors access to patient information over the Web.
''NEON Physician Access has provided patient information to our physicians in a more timely manner than the traditional approach,'' said Al Barea, CIO for Baptist Healthcare System. ''This enables physicians to make faster and more accurate decisions relating to their patients.''
NEON Rules and NEON Formatter
NEON Rules and NEON Formatter serve as the core technology that integrates computing environments enterprise-wide, regardless of hardware, operating systems, applications, databases or communication protocols.
NEON Rules maintains information on where, how and when to communicate to other applications. This information is abstracted from the applications for maximum flexibility and maintainability to respond to changing business needs. Rules evaluates the content of the message and decides where and how to route the message.
NEON Formatter transforms messages by reconstructing the input message data directly into different output formats. Source applications can generate a message - in any format - and the formatter transforms the message to the proper format(s) for all target systems.
