Ok, guys, with all this talk about rocks from Tim and Steven, we need to go to class and get educated and learn about igneous rocks and where the minerals formed in them come from:
Go here and learn about igneous rocks:

and here:

The following notes are credited to Geology 3101 class at UTEP:

The formation of igneous rocks
Classification of igneous rock bodies
Identification of igneous rocks
Geologic history from igneous rocks

Introduction

Rocks are aggregates of minerals. Igneous rocks solidify from molten rock, or
magma. (Fig. 1). Igneous rocks are divided into two major types based on
where the magma cools and crystallizes: plutonic, or intrusive, igneous rocks
which solidify below the Earth¹s surface, and volcanic, or extrusive, igneous
rocks which represent the eruption of magma onto the Earth's surface. Igneous
rocks are further classified by their texture and composition.

Go to the url to get the rest of the Geology Lab if this is interesting to you to learn about igneous rocks which Flag is drilling into now.
