Darlene, The Story says, Lucent will offer new Java telephony software that adds Internet access to the networks that its PassageWay Telephony Services product supports. PassageWay can display information about a caller the moment a call is connected. The product also can route calls, based on who's calling, to the proper destination before the call is answered. The company said the new software, Java telephony API, uses Java and the Internet to link various computers with voice networks. Lucent and Sun authored the Java telephony specification.
