My condolences to those who had NPA shares to their name when things halted way back when. I was lucky and got out with this one, but I have others that halted and haven't traded for years.

My question for anyone on the thread is: Is there any way to claim a capital loss (in Canada) for an equity which you hold, but cannot trade? In other words, is there some mechanism for the disposition of halted or de-listed equities such as NPA, BXM, AJP, etc.?

I would like to do some "house-cleaning" on my account, and there are a bunch of garbage equities listed with a value of 0. Would be nice to claim a loss to offset capital gains.

Thanks,
Ben.
