I don't really have a good understanding of the subject, but I would say that 3D Labs benefits from their expertise in OpenGL and hardware geometry setup. They may have some valuable IP in their virtual texture mapping that the P3 uses -- but I don't think this is as valuable as the texture compression that S3 has (and Intel wants).

The continued P3 delay is unacceptable. They can no longer sell this chip into the consumer market. I doubt the units they will be able to sell (if it ever comes out) will pay for development costs. Unbelieveable. What a grossly mismanaged company. Perhaps, If Osman had taken my advise six months ago and gone with UMC instead of STM, we would not be in this mess.
