True. What COMS should do, if they have not already though of. Keep the USR Brand, as it is widely known for it's Quality, Reliability, etc..... Just the USR name itself has more credibility than most other modem makers in the market. 3Com can slap on their own logo after the USRobotics Name, eg: USRobotics - (a division of 3 Com) =)

Something like what we see in the Megahertz Modems, there's a USR name branded on each one. USR knew that the vast majority public recognized the MHZ Brand. Which was why MHZ name never dissapeared off the face of the earth. Now people know it's USRobotics - Megahertz PCMCMIA.... blah....
