hi jw,

you could try adjusting your hardware acceleration.

i don't know about win98, but win95 has an advanced graphics settings dialog that can be reached by clicking start, settings, control panel, system. go to performance tab and click graphics button at bottom. if you adjust acceleration down one notch from full position, the text reads: use this setting to correct problems with the mouse pointer. it's my understanding that these are settings to help you troubleshoot display-related probs. i'd also take a look at device manager while you are on the system properties dialog, to see if there are any yellow exclamation marks in front of any devices (like your mouse).

just some quick thoughts for you to try.

:)
