Terry,
This may have something to do with it.
I was at one of their "seminars" two nights ago in Santa Monica. They were promoting their real estate investment workshop. Outside the meeting room were some picketers who were handing out flyers. Here's the text:
BOYCOTT CORPORATE FRAUD
Employees Protest Violation of California Labor Laws and Major Corporation Operating Illegally
Tonight, Monday, April 12, 1999, former employees of the company are gathering together at the Miramar Sheraton in Santa Monica at 7:00 p.m., to protest the Real Estate Seminar presented by Fortune Financial, Inc. in conjunction with Success Magazine and Homebuyers of America.
The company, formerly operating as Fortune Financial Systems, Inc. has been publicly trading shares despite the fact they no longer exist as a corporation. As a result of their own negligence, Fortune Financial Systems lost their license yet they have continued to conduct business as usual, including major downsizing that resulted in the closure of offices in both Utah and Beverly Hills, Calif. All employees working in these offices were fired without warning and Fortune Financial has yet to comply with California Labor Laws regarding termination procedures. Employees, the majority of whom have families, were left without health insurance and were given no severance pay to compensate them for their years of hard work and dedication.
Furthermore, the company still conducting business as Fortune Financial Systems, Inc. is hosting seminars this week in Southern California despite the fact they have never sought a license to conduct business in the State of California. California citizens are not the only individuals falling victim to this company's illegal operations. Fortune Financial currently conducts these seminars in several major cities throughout the United States inviting hundreds of people to attend their fraudulent activities.
To find out where they are continuing to illegally operate call 1-800-578-4722.
End of Flyer
I don't know how much, if any, of the above is true, but I would be interested in the reactions of those longtimers here who know about the company. I started looking into this because I am thinking of taking their seminar, but before I plunk down from $2k to $5k for a workshop, I want to know the company will actually deliver what it promises. From what I've read on this thread so far, I must say I'm not reassured.
Thoughts anyone??
TIA
