Vic,
You reference to commercials in England reminds me of my just acknowledged advertising comparison between Apple and CPQ. CPQ tries to be rational, "traditional", using all the Political Correct/future oriented language and comes off stodgy, less than comprehensible to the majority of American TV viewers... Apple has now (or maybe always has) recognized the commodity nature of comps (forget substantial differences for the most part) and is now selling on the basis of COLORS of the RAINBOW with bright and lively music, and spinning, kaleidoscopic like images. The age of providing commercials that inform is apparently dead--- Apples share of the PC market has doubled over the last 6 QTRs (CNBC yesterday). CPQ is crawling along, eeking out fairly expensive incremental gains. They need to live and breath the "Jetsons" as an approach for the next few years... and show us all (even neophytes) how it feels to inhabit the world that the Germanic mind of EP is alluding to in a very clumsey, inarticulate, unromantic, uninspiring way.

(And here I am always looking for substance beneath the glitter... ah, the contradicitons!)
