James,

What is the Good Buy price ?

It is difficult to answer to this question.

The only thing I can tell is the following : During 1996, top insiders sold more than 1,6 million shares. The average price of all these sales is around $55.

The most interesting insider selling is the one from
Mory Ejabat :
Ascend CEO was owning more than 300 000 shares at the beginning of 1996. He finished the year owning less than 114 000.

Moreover, he exercised all its sell options (180 000) between july and October 1996, at an average price of $58.

So we may consider that he won more than $ 15 Million in 1996 with its insider selling.

This level of selling is very surprising. Does Mr EJABAT need $15 Million a year to live ? I guess he doesn't. So perhaps he thinks that the actual price is a bit too high, despite what many people say in ASCEND thread.

As for telling what is the good price : I don't have a crystal ball.
So you will have to guess by your own if you want to buy the stock.

Consider that ASCEND is a company with a good technology, with a good marketing. But think also that it moved from a solely leadership to a very competitive area.

There will be a downside for ASND in 1997. In my opinion the most difficult quarter will be Q3 1997. Because then CISCO will have :

- A good MAX TNT Competitor,
- Its STRATACOM Hardware based Tag Switching equipments.

And CISCO also has a good marketing, a customer oriented sales organisation. And has 80% of the Router Market.
