Brian - You just forgot your samples (15 out of 20 stores in USA) is too small to mean anything.

Actually it isn't. Statistical sampling is a great thing. The only real problem is that Tero's sample is self-selected by the the people (store salesmen) who are annoyed with Qualcomm. If he had randomly selected 20 stores and they had said the Q phone sucks, I'd pay a lot of attention.

As for vendor financing, you claim NOkia does not do it too often. I sincerely doubt it. It is the norm in telcomm. industry.

I tend to agree with you Brian. In developing countries there are very few companies that have the cash for up-front financing. I imagine it is possible to bury the cash flows to some degree, and it also true that Nokia, as an industry leader, probably has to do less financing that a second string supplier, but still I would expect them to have to finance 50% or more of their developing country infrastructure contracts.

PS Tero, in all sincerity, congrats on the large readership. Although I don't always agree with you, you still seem to get some interesting slants and facts.
