FBI arrests employee in PairGain hoax

An employee from PairGain Technologies has been charged with circulating a false report on the Internet that drove up the company's stock 31 percent, the FBI said. Gary Dale Hoke, 25, of Raleigh, North Carolina, was arrested in connection with securities fraud; he is accused of fabricating a news story that claimed the maker of high-speed access products was being acquired for $1.35 billion in cash.
