Since you asked, IMO: Byron's not an SI saint and neither is he an SI sinner. I personally do not believe he is "responsible" for how other's invested their money. He wanted the same thing everyone else did (and many still do) back then: for DGIV to live up to its promises. The fact that it didn't then, and still hasn't to date, can hardly be laid at Byron's feet. If anyone is "responsible" for DGIV's performance, it has to be those that are still responsible, and hopefully will be responsible for its ultimate success.

I think it is human nature to want to assign responsibility for the consequences of one's actions to someone other than one's self. I catch myself doing it all the time. But when you look in the mirror, and you check the trading records, there's only one person who "made" you buy into DGIV. Doesn't feel good to recognize we goofed. But I believe it is a whole lot healthier, and honest, to do so than it is to point the finger at someone else who also goofed.

Meanwhile, SI as of today has a new manager that wants to hear from folks if they want to make recommendations about how to improve SI:
