Thanks Coby. Anyone else know more about leatherbritches beans? I think Penni will know something, must, because this book Cold Mountain takes place in Virginia. Civil War. Wow - that's an oxymoron, isn't it.

My dad told the old ladies at the bookclub that he knew what they were, string beans, but then he said he'd looked it up and it wasn't in his dictionary, so he's thinking he knew it from his earliest youth in the South.

He asked me last night because he says people on SI know Everything.

Probly JFred knows too.
