Very curious how they determine "live" fingers... >>>Bill, IDX scanners are suppose to tell if it is a live finger or not, so cast and cut off fingers are unlikely. Marvin<<< Wonder how they would stop someone wearing a surgical glove style cast of someone else's fingerprints... If the glove is thin enough, it should pass through most of the measurable properties of a live finger. Especially if the scanners are to work with people with poor circulation or in cold climate outdoor ATMs. If this technology really takes off, I can forsee the day when police arrest someone with an "android hand" that satisfies all the measured parameters for a live fingerprint. :-) This is not necessarily a bad thing for IDX. As security measures increase, the responding counter measures also increase.
