Staples buying CPU may not happen, but I wouldn't call it ridiculous. Isn't Staples the largest seller of office supplies? They deal with thousands of small and medium sized businesses all over the country. Businesses who, for the most part, go elsewhere for their computer hardware and software needs. Perhaps Staples is planning on catering to both the office supply AND computer needs of their customers. (Especially considering the training program that CPU has developed)

As for AOL buying CBS, don't count that out. CBS is quickly moving to acquire internet interests. Rumors have been around for a while that CBS might be interested in selling off the network portion of the company because it barely breaks even, and keeping their Owned and Operated stations around the country because their in the black big time from advertising revenue. Also, their interest in Infinity is valuable.

And why wouldn't Steve Case want a television network! <g>
