PairGain Employee Arrested for Fraudulent News Story, WSJ Says PairGain Employee Arrested for Fraudulent News Story, WSJ Says Tustin, California, April 15 (Bloomberg) - The U.S. Attorney's Office in Los Angeles arrested PairGain Technologies Inc. employee Gary Hoke for fraud, alleging he posted a fake Bloomberg News story on the Internet that boosted the company's shares last week, the online edition of the Wall Street Journal reported. The case was filed in North Carolina, according to an unnamed spokesman for the U.S. attorney's office in Los Angeles, the Journal said. It wasn't immediately known whether Hoke was represented by an attorney who could speak for him, and the U.S. attorney's spokesman said documents related to the case would soon be unsealed, the Journal reported.
Hoke has been suspended without pay, said PairGain spokeswoman Kim Gower. Chris Taylor, a spokeswoman for Bloomberg LP, the parent of Bloomberg News, declined to comment. (WSJ Interactive Edition 4/15 wsj.com)
