Business Brief -- CHIRON CORP.: Focal, Ciba Pact to Create Drug-Delivery Technology Chiron Corp., Emeryville, Calif., said it will work with Focal Inc. and a Ciba-Geigy Ltd. unit to develop a drug-delivery technology to prevent arteries from collapsing after angioplasty. Terms weren't disclosed. The collaboration involves a Focal technique for coating arteries with a biodegradable gel containing medication that is gradually released. Both Chiron and Ciba have cardiovascular drugs in test stages, which might be more effective if administered in this way, a Chiron spokesman said. Focal is a closely held Lexington, Mass., biotechnology concern. Ciba is a Swiss pharmaceutical concern. V.K
