The parallel between the Internet and TV is a good one, but for the purposes of this discussion, the real comparison is between TV shopping and online shopping. I think they will follow the same paths. As for the bidding online, I don't question the revenue, but anyone can sell something at cost (which is what Bid.com is doing), but the Interent for retail purchases has few, if any, real success stories. Forgive my ignorance on Amazon.com, but I thought they have yet to report their first profit, I'm not sure. Either way, what I do know is that Bid.com spent $2 for every $1 they took in. They need to improve on that or even the loyal longs will bail.
