Sun Micro Profits Rise, Slightly Above Expectations PALO ALTO, Calif. (Reuters) - Sun Microsystems Inc. (Nasdaq:SUNW - news), a maker of workstations, servers and software for network computing, reported a 12.5 percent rise in third-quarter earnings, with the results coming in slightly above Wall Street expectations.
Palo Alto, Calif.-based Sun reported net income of $261.2 million, or 63 cents a share, not accounting for a stock split. The results compare with $232 million, or 59 cents a share, in the year-ago third quarter. Excluding charges, per-share earnings were 71 cents, compared to analysts' consensus estimate of 70 cents, before the stock split |
