The game E*trade plays...
Here's the facts of online life today with E*trade:
If the people at E*trade can't, or don't want to, answer a question you have, they'll simply ignore it. You'll hear nothing...you'll hear nothing by e-mail, you'll hear nothing by snail mail, and you'll hear nothing by phone. It will be as if you, as a loyal customer of several year's duration, doesn't exist. You, as a customer, and in their minds, are not even worth responding to. You are nothing. As far as they are concerned, you can hit the road. I've had that experience multiple times with E*trade.
On the other hand, if it's a question E*trade can conveniently answer, or if it's a question that is somehow in their advantage to answer, then you might - repeat - might - get a feeble, untimely response out of them.
Those, my friends, are the facts of online life today with E*trade. And E*trade, as I understand it, is supposed to be one of the best in the business.
Can you believe that? A broker - online or otherwise - who ignores, and/or blows off its customer's questions? And E*trade is one of online's "best"? A company with a stock price over $100/share?
Gimme a break! Who is investing in the company? It must be people other than their active or former customers. It must be people who don't understand the very fundamentals of how a business must operate in order to survive over the long haul. It must be people on some kind of a pipe dream.
