<<It is sometimes easier to do things for friends
than for ourselves. >>

I figured that out when i was a very young child. And i thought about the phenomenon quite a lot. I was terribly shy, really almost incapacitated by shyness; but i noticed that when i was with my little sister, an odd strength appeared in me from nowhere. No one could push us around, I wasn't afraid of strangers, i could find things, lost toys or the way home. I tried to use this observation about myself when i was alone, to call that bravery up in myself, but it was no use. If i was alone, I was terrified; if i was responsible for my sister, I was almost fearless.
