Wow ;RE >> I did say I was going to make this a simplistic explanation, didn't I? Sorry, here goes. The current crisis in Yugoslavia can be laid at the feet of Slobodan Milosevic And I was simplistic ! LOL , well I don't know the man personally but have an entirely different story of how he came to power. ------------------------------ Villonizing "ONE MAM" "any one person" ,in history for some entire mess is to me out of the question. But anyway the accounts of his coming to power that I have are not close to the ones you seem to have. I will agree in part that with Tito's death the multi ethic ability of Yugoslavia started falling apart. In a way we could say the root of present hostilities can be traced to that point, I would prefer to say hinged at that point. As without Tito they may have happened sooner, his iron will was good enough to keep a lot together that I think other wise would have been exploited sooner. Since Tito's death the exploitation of the Yugoslavia ethic differences has been wide spread by just about every one wanting power, including those outside Yugoslavia , even half of our politicians are now trying to do nothing but get political mileage out of it. ------------------------------ I think the post George made was more comprehensive than most, Message 8954563 The guy who wrote it knows how to say things better than I do, ugh that's a problem with me, I see a much bigger picture than I know I will ever have the talent to write. Yugoslavia has been Europe's little foot ball for years even before WW I , that's the root of the problem. She is the scape goat when ever some one needs one. What will they use after she is gone ?
