As I read your post, I was concerned about the following statement:

I do not intend to discredit the other information in your post, but your statement regarding Surfaxin is incorrect. Please let me clarify some information. Surfaxin is the name of the synthetic drug being tested by DSCO. The current non-synthetic drug is manufactured under the name Survanta. The intended use for both Surfaxin and Survanta, is as a replacement for a surfactant deficiency. It is also worth noting the currently used drug, Survanta, is derived from cows lungs.
You are completely correct when you say that the current drug is VERY expensive to produce. I believe the figure you tossed out regarding the cost per treatment to be fairly accurate. The synthetic drug will be much less costly to produce. It will make a marked improvement for the treatment of premature infant and Adult respiratory distress.
