Bill--- That is the funny thing--- most places are far worse than we are about racism and ethno- centrism. The Koreans are positively bonkers on the subject; you can see how easily various African groups fall into tribal rivalries and wars; the Germans are more willing to make Volga Germans citizens, even though their ancestors left over 200 years ago, then Turks who have lived there for their adult lives---- and yet we get vilified! I thank God for the racial progress made in this century, but I also thank the culture and institutions of the United States for making it more likely!
