The bid is the lowest offer price a buyer is willing to buy a stock / ask is the opposite. If you were to place a market buy order you will normally get that stock at the sellers ask price... unless the best asked price volume is exhausted, at which time the MM fills you on the next best price(higher)available. Hope that clears it a bit. SF
