AUSTIN, Texas, Feb. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Continuing its mission of providing the most
affordable performance to SPARC(TM) users worldwide, Ross Technology Inc today announced
immediate availability of its hyperSTATION(TM) Web Server systems and SPARCplug(TM) PC
Intranet systems. These desktop servers incorporate the company's hyperSPARC(TM)

maintain full Sun/SPARC compatibility.

The hyperSTATION Web server systems, configured with a single 200 MHz hyperSPARC CPU
or a single 125 MHz hyperSPARC CPU, have list prices of $23,950 and $14,650, respectively.
The full range of Netscape(TM) Internet server software, the SuiteSpot(TM) bundle for
high-performance Intranet and Internet servers, is included with the systems. By contrast, the list
price for a similarly-equipped single 200 MHz UltraSPARC(TM)-based Netra i2/1200 Web
server system from Sun Microsystems is $33,090, including a separate cost for the SuiteSpot

"More than 50 percent of all Web servers today are SPARC servers, according to market
researchers," said Roger D. Ross, President, CEO and Chairman of ROSS Technology. "These
new systems from ROSS represent the greatest value available today for companies needing
SPARC-based Web servers. Customers want to have the best tools available, and ROSS
provides total- product solutions without premium pricing."

machine, allowing cut-and-paste operations between the two systems. The SPARCplug
workstation is a complete SS-20-class workstation/server that fits into the full-height drive bay of
a Dell Optiplex PC, sharing the same monitor, keyboard and mouse, and communicating between
the two systems via standard Ethernet. Using Hummingbird's eXceed 5 and Maestro NFS for file
sharing, the SPARCplug appears as separate windows on the PC screen, allowing for intuitive and
seamless cross-platform functionality.

The SPARCplug PC systems are configured with a single or dual 100 MHz or 125 MHz
processor or a single 150 MHz hyperSPARC CPU, SCSI 2 serial interface, 10Base-T Ethernet,
Solaris 1.x or 2.x operating system, 8-bit audio, FDD interface, 2 RS-232 or RS-423 peripheral
ports, 64 MB DRAM, lGB hard drive and the Netscape FastTrack server software. A
SPARCplug PC system combining a 100 MHz SPARCplug and a 200 MHz Pentium Pro PC
