California Microwave to Supply MRC Video Microwave
Systems to Hearst-Argyle Stations in Exclusive Agreement

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 15, 1999--California Microwave Inc. (Nasdaq
National Market:CMIC - news) announced today that it has entered into an exclusive agreement
with Hearst-Argyle to supply a wide range of MRC brand long-haul and portable microwave
products. The purchase agreement was accompanied by purchase orders totaling over $1 million for
digital studio-to-transmitter links (STLs) and electronic newsgathering (ENG) systems.

Established reputation

''MRC has been a leader in the broadcast microwave business for many years,'' states Marty
Faubell, vice president engineering, Hearst-Argyle Television, ''and worked alongside our WCVB
station since the first live ENG microwave shot. Since then, MRC has continued to provide the
quality products and service to our company and we have chosen MRC as our partner again for
1999.''

The purchase orders supplied under the agreement specify MRC TwinStream(TM) radios for
Hearst Argyle stations implementing or upgrading their digital television facilities, including
WCVB-DT, Boston; WESH-DT, Orlando-Daytona; KCRA-DT, Sacramento; and WISN-DT,
Milwaukee. In addition, the orders include MRC FLH-DAR microwave systems for WISN-TV,
Milwaukee and KSBW-TV, Salinas. ENG systems ordered under the agreement include systems
for WPBF, West Palm Beach, and WTAE, Pittsburgh.

Hearst-Argyle Agreement with California Microwave

Hearst-Argyle Television Inc. owns and/or manages 26 network-affiliated television stations, and
owns and/or manages seven radio stations, in geographically diverse U.S. markets. The company's
television stations reach about 17.5% of U.S. TV households, making it one of the two largest
non-network owned television station groups in the United States, as well as one of the eight largest
television groups overall as measured by audience delivered.
