Pri Automation Inc gets chip-maker order
BILLERICA, Mass., Feb 24 (Reuter) - PRI Automation Inc, a developer of automation systems for semiconductor makers, said on Monday it had received a multi-million dollar order from Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co Ltd 2330.TW .
PRI said it will install a full-factory automation system consisting of pod stockers, reticle stockers, an AeroTrak(TM) overhead monorail system, and TransNet(TM) fully integrated material control software at Taiwan Semiconductor's Fab V, currently under construction in Hsin Chu, Taiwan.
When complete, Fab V will process 30,000 8-inch (200mm) silicon wafers per month for a variety of TSMC's customers.
Taiwan Semiconductor is investing $1.2 billion into Fab V, which will have two three-story cleanrooms on top of one another to save land, PRI said.
Contract terms were not disclosed, but a company spokesman said a typical full factory automation system costs between $10 million and $20 million. |
