Kyl's Back on the Warpath

Fri Apr 16, 1999

As expected, Senator Kyl is turning on the heat to gain support for the latest version of the Internet Gambling Prohibition Act (IGPA.) Recently, Senator Kyl addressed his fellow Congressmen in a letter that started like this: ''Dear Colleague: We urge you to co-sponsor the Internet Gambling Prohibition Act (S. 692).The bill bans gambling on the Internet.'' Kyl's letter alleges that ''Internet gambling poses a serious threat that will explode unless effective steps are taken by this Congress.'' A serious threat against what--the government's tax money? The positive side is that the private bettor is home free, even if the bill becomes law.
