Please pardon my off topic, if there is another thread to which I should address this please let me know.

Can anyone tell me the dos command to initiate a ping or tracer?

A techie walked me through it, but I neglected to write it down properly. It worked great when he was on the line, showing me there server/router links along the way to the internet that were receiving bad packets.

I went to MS dos prompt and entered <copy(?).tracert.com.number of the server of the program you want to trace>.

I have tried several different combinations of the above, but no banana.

Thank you for any help.
