Not hot swappable. Dangerous in any case, and impossible
unless the drives are absolutely identical.


I guess I've been operating in danger of trashing these drives then as I've switched between 2 identical Maxtors, with the computer running, at least 6 or 8 times already. I went back to one of DataPorts dealer sites and they indeed use the term 'hot-removable' rather than hot-swappable. At the time I thought the terms were synonymus.
They go on to say:

""Once installed, you can remove the drive simply by turning the key off and removing the cartridge from the frame."

There is no mention of inserting another drive after the removal process.

I think I'll shoot their tech support an email about all this....
