Ateba's Process Recovers Gold from
Clay

TORONTO, CANADA--ATEBA MINES INC. is pleased to announce that it has received
confirmation that its patented process for recovering gold from clay-bearing rocks has been
successfully tested in Alberta.

Large areas of N.E. Alberta are underlain by Cretaceous rocks containing clays including
bentonite and are known to host sulphide mineralization containing base metal and precious metal
values as well as visible gold grains. Until the introduction of At eba's patented process for
deflocculating the clay the metal values were unrecoverable by standard flotation methods. Three
companies having title to over 500,000 acres of permits in N.E. Alberta and using Ateba's
process may have identified large low-g rade gold and base metal deposits in this area.

Ateba has recently provided testing facilities to several companies (press release December 14,
1998). Press releases by Tintina Mines Ltd. (TTS-TSE) (February 26, 1999), NSR Resources
Inc. (NSR-TSE) (February 26, 1999) and Crowflight Minerals (CML-VSE) (April 13, 1999)
indicated encouraging values in gold, after Ateba deflocculated the material and processed it on a
shaking table to obtain a heavy minerals concentrate. Crowflight stated that ''this concentrate was
assayed for thirty elements and unexp ectedly reported relatively high gold values. All assays for
gold were done by fire assaying techniques in several laboratories in Canada and the U.S.A.''

This confirms the results of previous experiments that recovered phosphates from clay and gold
and diamonds from clay-bearing alluvials, underlining the potential of Ateba's patented process to
create wealth by converting previously unrecoverable mineral s into a valuable concentrate.
