looks like there is one more networking guru here again...

<< As for CSCC, they are behind in ATM >> - where did you get that??? and what CSCC products do you mean??? and what co. products do you compare with CSCC in ATM??? why dont you like CBX500 with IP Navigator running on it which can route 5 mln packets/sec - please explain?

<< if I am a big networking Co. I would rather unite with FORE to add very focussed and concentrated ATM operation or even with Newbridge >> - you must be thinking that networking and ATM are the same things?? CSCC is a major FR player not ATM, however their ATM rev. increased to 20% for 4Q from 10-15% for 1Q-3Q, and also ATM market is in initial development stage so far and CSCC/Sahara seems to be among the leaders there, FORE is a significant entry in ATM but it's mostly LAN ATM co. while CSCC (said Smith) shipped more WAN ATM in 4Q than any other co. including FORE.

<< The biggest CSCC asset is its good relationship with PTT.>> - their largest assets are: outstanding technology, thick margins, huge market share in FR/ATM including NYNEX, Bell Atlantic, GTE, BellSouth, AT&T, ChinaTelecom/MPT, LDDS Worldcom etc., strong competetive product line, high growth rates, aggressive penetration in ATM/IP-switching/Remote Access, lots more...

<< I am not sure that CSCC is a buy even at this level.>> - if everyone was sure of it, CSCC wouldnt be at this level - it's apparently a gamble for short-term, good and safe for long-term:

February 27, 1997 at 10:56

-- J.P. Morgan analyst William Rabin said he reiterated
ratings on several networking stocks.
-- reiterated "buy" ratings on Cisco Systems Inc (NASDAQ:CSCO),
Cascade Communications Corp (NASDAQ:CSCC), Cabletron Systems Inc
(NYSE:CS) and Newbridge Networks Corp (TSE:NNC). He also reiterated
a "market performer" rating on 3Com Corp (NASDAQ:COMS).
-- set a 12-month price target of $85 on Cisco; an $85
target on Cascade; a $50 target for Cabletron; a $42 target for
Newbridge Networks; and a $42 target for 3Com.
-- said the market for networking equipment offers "one of
the sustainably strongest, non-cyclical growth opportunities
available to investors today."

<< CSCC connects LAN to WAN but, so does ASND.>> - so do the copper lines ... apples and oranges, CSCC doesnt commercially ship Arris AX products yet so what are you talking about???

Regards,
D.
