Richard, I don't disagree about the opportunity in general. In fact, I've backed this POV with a good chunk of my IRA money. So let's hope were right.

I don't know if this response is off the subject for this particular thread, but the volatility as you point out is, high at the moment. This is a key point. While you may not agree with the philosophy, astute traders can trade on this volatility and use it like a "money pump"; Selling (and shorting) at the highs-going way long at the lows. My rich uncle CTUS was kind enough to help me through school on this plan. Theoretically, this should reduce the volatility (yeah, right).

However, within the noise generated by this volatility the value of individual components is hard to pin down.
