To all: Step back take a breath and look at the positives and look at the negative and then YOU decide what the best approach is for your investment.

Simply put, there is a lot a value in this company and even more 'potential' value. A new CEO and management team can accomplish this.

As far as the negatives, any new CEO and management team will take more time to pursue a viable business plan. Expect some more restructuring and one time write offs in the future <ug!>.

Positives, include many areas of revenue growth (ie. services, consulting) as detailed upthread on this board.

Novell is now looking at slower growth in a growing business. I would like to see a merger with a partner. Lucent Technologies may be a very good fit. CSCO is another partner if they would have us.

Our efforts should be (1) Get new CEO; (2) get BOD representation (3) obtain an understanding that a merger is the best solution for future consolidation and growth and staying independent will just take too long to recongnize positive returns. CalPers, SWIB and American Express should be polled for their input but I believe they would concur with a friendly merger.

As long as free flow cash flow is positive, we still have time. Our best bet for the future of this company is to selectively seek a 'friendly' merger and show by our proxies that this is what needs to be done.

Perhaps our WSJ add should include such an 'Open Request'. Target only those companies which would be in BOTH our best interests. Lucent, Cisco and perhaps Oracle. Can anybody add others?

Joe - Would this be a positive approach for our add dollars?
