Inspite of its decidedly undownhome source, this recipe (minus the cakeflour) from Cuisine reminds me of my Grandma's version:

I recommend using White Lily Flour (http://www.whitelily.com/whylily.html) --its got a certain thang. Brought a smile to my face to see White Lily being sold (and extolled) in Williams Sonoma's catalog a few months ago.
