Any way this turns out, the administration and NATO have seriously blundered. They will have to commit to spend many billions to rebuild the Balkans economy to staunch the flow of refugees (even if they are resettled) and to commit policing or funds for third parties to police the region. Getting in the middle of several communist factions and 'rebuilding' their economies. This is reminiscent of 'The Mouse That Roared'.
