Another example is October 1995:

decisionpoint.com

Some background:

1) Market leadership was techs, most pronounced in the semiconductors.

2) There was a July top in the market in which the Nasdaq corrected
about 7%.

3) The market went on to make new highs in October with poor breadth.

4) Market indexes started decline while McClellan Oscillator made
two rallies. Steel, truckers, and other cyclicals were rallying.

The Nasdaq declined about 10%.
The Dow and the S&P 500 had even smaller declines.
