Gary, One other suggestion. Check out the Sony full size Vaio notebooks. They have a PII-300, 14.1" XGA, 64 meg, 4.3 GB, 3.5 hours, USB/IEEE-1394, 56K etc. This is a slim unit that weighs about 7 pounds and retails for about $2000 with CD-ROM instead of DVD. Excellent display and ergonomics (though does have a touchpad). Comes with a deal for a second battery. You can find them at Best Buy. You may be able to find a better price on the Web.
