Still doesn't make sense - how a stock can rise with poor earnings.

Still, I suppose the management is taking a good, hard look at the way it spends money and is doing something about it (cutting jobs).

The proposed internet site might have been the real reason for the recent pop, though. Any stock with an internet associated with it seems to upward. Personally I don't see how a buy direct site will affect Mattel's sales enough to turn the company around. Furthermore, 50 million to get the site up and running seems excessive to me.

Now that I am out of MAT at a nice profit, I can look at the company less emotionally. I think there are some good plays for traders, and perhaps the company will be at $ 40- $ 50 in a few years. For now, however, I am sitting on the sidelines. Mid-twenties and I'll be a shareholder again.
